What do I do if I have a swollen eye?

What do I do if I have a swollen eye?Last night I was applying a menthol patch and did not wash my hands after wearing the pad. I then touched the outside of my left eye and it began to get that itchy, cold feeling. Does it damage the inside of my eye? The nerves, etc? I was too dumb to not wash around my eyes. I just fell asleep.

I woke up this morning and wore my contacts. The left side burned so much, but I did not bother to remove the lens. I think my left side looks smaller and very unnatractive. Any sort of thing I can buy to cure this?

I just want to be sure the appearance goes back to normal.

you should go to the doctor

eyes are kind of important, so I might suggest going to an eye doctor and being somewhat concerned about your vision rather than the appearance of it.

My eyes are doing that now ..I think it is allergy season too.

I just keep it flushed with a dry eye eye drops and keep it clean from makeup.

I would say visine for your inner eye and preperation H for the outer parts, this stuff is known in the modeling industry to work wonders for puffy eyes!! look it up if you dont believe me.

I'm not sure if the menthol will damage your eye (I don't think it will) but you definitely should have washed it out then. Now, it's probably just irritated, and putting another foreign object into your eye (the contact) probably didn't help the situation. I'm not an optometrist but I would suggest not wearing contacts for a few days, washing out your eyes, maybe with water and eye drops. If there is inflammation you might want to take a Motrin or something to bring it down. I would say if you have extreme pain, your eye starts to look really nasty, your vision gets worse, or if the irritation doesn't go away/get better in a day or two, then to see a doctor.

--Upon further searching I have found there are actually mint and menthol eye drops...yes people purposely put menthol in their eye. What I said before still stands, but I thought you should know they exist.

Sky News on " Removing a Tumor" through Eye Brow" using Minimal Access Surgery

Sky News Correspondent Thomas Moore Travels to Bangalore to witness how Indian Healthcare Chains like Fortis Hospitals is changing the way high end medical treatment is done in India. The man, known only as Thomas B, had a tumour the size of a golf ball pressing on the optic nerves leading from his eyes to the vision centre of his brain. He was already blind in one eye and fast losing sight in the other. Surgeons at Bangalore's Fortis Hospital picked the tumour away from Thomas' optic nerves, allowing signals to pass through again. Immediately after the operation he already noticed the difference. "I see better now," he told Sky News. Neurosurgeon Dr Deshpande Rajakumar removed the tumour through Thomas' eyebrow. He peeled back the skin and removed a small rectangle of skull, then squeezed his instruments between Thomas' eyeball and brain. The unusual route avoided damage to nerve tissue. With his instruments now 10cm inside Thomas' head, Dr Rajakumar cored out the inside of the tumour and then gently pulled abnormal tissue away from the fragile optic nerves and the carotid artery, which carries blood to the brain. Any slip with the sharp tools could have severed the nerve or artery, leaving Thomas blind, or causing a massive stroke. But Dr Rajakumar said the risk was worthwhile, telling Sky News: "Imagine somebody who could see gradually losing vision. "It's devastating psychologically for him and his family. So if this guy was to get back his vision in one eye, this ...
