What is the best treatment for Hyperthyroid eye disease^?I was diagnosed with Graves disease a year ago and underwent radioactive iodine treatment 5 months ago. I am now hypo and just started taking synthroid. for the past 2 weeks however, one of my eye has become much more prominent than the other and the bulging has not gone down. I am running tests with the optometrist because my vision has slightly deteriorated and we think it's due to the disease. What's the best way to cure my bulging eye?

Graves disease is an auto-immune disease. It means that your immune system attacks your own body.

You initially had hyperthyroidism. Now the connective tissue in your eye is being stimulated by the same antibody that "gave" you hyperthyroidism.

Unfortunately, the only way to make it better is using immunossuppressive therapy.
