why is optometry considered top best career? and ophthalmology?I keep reading and hearing on how optometry is such a great career on us news, us money, kiplinger, and so on based on overall income, stress, high cure rate, opportunities, not physically demanding. What about ophthalmology which is higher in ranking to optometry? Is it any good then?

Because ophthalmologists are MDs, so you have more stress, more liability, more education, and you do surgery which has more time commitments, being on call, etc. You see sicker patients and more complex ones than an optometrist. You have longer hours and pay much higher malpractice premiums, and you need hospital privileges for some practices. And its not so much a ranking as they are just different scopes of practice and positions. They are different.
