Pain in the back of my eyes should I go back to the optition? For the last month or so Ive been getting pains in the back of my eye ball. It feels like some one punched my eyes a real bruising sort of pain. There is always a certain level of pain there but it gets worse at times. Most of the time its only in my right eye but when it gets bad it spreads to the back of my left and last thurs it got so bad that i got a migraine like headache from it. So on Friday I went to my local pharmacy and the pharmacist there said because it gets more severe in sunlight and when im trying to focus on things in the distance I should go to my optician. (I just want to add here I am short sighted) So then on Sunday I went to my appointment at the optician and he tested me for all sorts of things, glaucoma, infections, took photos of the back of my eye (I think he said it was photos of my retina not sure though) looked into my eye with his light checked my vision, and a focus test.
Glaucoma runs in my family but he said my pressure was 12 so he said it couldn't be that. He said i have no scrapes or cuts on infections on the surface of my eye but i had had itching from my contacts on the thurs so he said there might have been an infection but it cleared up. Basically all my tests came back fine my vision was gone from -3.5 in both eyes to -3.75 and -4 and that's what he put the pain down to. So he updated my contacts and gave me t2 new sets of my newer prescription and yesterday my eyes were good but today the pain started to come back. Granted it is milder than before but its still pain. He told me to go back if I have any worries but I don't want to seem all stupid and go back when there is nothing wrong. THe pain is worse in sunlight and wearing shades does help a little.
I just was wondering if there's any more tests that he could do if I went back would it be worth my while?? Because if there's nothing else he can do maybe I should just bear the pain and take ibuprofen when it gets unbearable and Ill just have to live with it for life.
Please help me out
Jen
No I dont suffer from any known allergies. I do sneeze the odd time I walk by a garden with grass that has just been cut but not near as much as my friend with hey fever does. I do get "stuffy" sinuses every now and again. would a sinus medication have any other effects as I am wary about taking pain killers and other things the only reason I take ibuprofen is because I know it works and i dont suffer any effects from it. I suffer from a joint condition and took it when i was suffering pain for that. Also Im 17 and my mom always says Im a hypocondricact joking but I know that sometimes she really believes her self. This isnt true by the way I just had a strech of bad look with my health with ended last september after I started recieving treatment for anemia.
any way i hope this helps answer ur question and gives you some more info so ye can give me some advice

Hi Jen!
Do you suffer from allergies? This would explain the itching. The pain you're describing sounds like it's sinus related. Instead of taking ibuprofen...try taking a really good Sinus Tablet (make sure it says that it will relieve sinus presure) from the pharmacy and see if you get any relief. If it helps...then your mystery may be solved. At this time of year, many people suffer with sinus problems and the average pain-killer does not help...if the pain persists, try seeing a medical doctor.
